The reference nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy for aggressive wet chemical service, and one of the few materials that handles both oxidising and reducing conditions without a change of grade.

Where it is specified

  • Wet chlorine, hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide and ferric chloride
  • Sour gas, flue gas desulphurisation, pulp and paper bleaching
  • Very low carbon and silicon give excellent as-welded corrosion resistance

Molybdenum is the substitution tell on C-276

Molybdenum is the single most expensive element in the alloy, which puts the whole cost-down incentive on one number, and that number is invisible without measurement. Carbon is the second check: C-276's very low carbon ceiling is what gives it as-welded performance, and a heat over 0.010 % will sensitise at the weld.

What we specify and check

  • PMI specified on the delivered heat, reading Mo against the 15.0–17.0 window
  • Carbon verified against the 0.010 % maximum
  • ASTM G28 method A intergranular corrosion testing where specified
  • Solution anneal records confirmed

We commission an accredited independent laboratory to test the heat before the material leaves China. You will receive that report unedited, whether it passes or not.
