EN
NiCr23Fe15Al

An aluminium-bearing development of 600 that forms a tenacious oxide skin, giving markedly better high-temperature oxidation resistance.

Nominal composition
  • Ni60.5

  • Fe15.2
  • Al1.4

Per cent by weight, at the midpoint of each specified window. Elements given only as a maximum have no midpoint to take, so they sit inside the balance rather than being estimated; trace elements below 0.5 % are not shown. Indicative only; the composition table above and the governing standard are what define the limits.

Standards by form

Governing standard for each product form
Plate, sheet & strip ASTM B168
Pipe & tube ASTM B167
Bar & rod ASTM B166

Where it is specified

  • Cyclic high-temperature oxidation to roughly 1200 °C
  • Furnace muffles and retorts, radiant tubes, thermal processing
  • Aluminium addition drives the oxidation resistance

Without its aluminium, 601 is 600 at a premium

Aluminium is the entire reason to buy 601 over 600. A heat below the 1.0 % floor is functionally 600 sold at a premium, and it will scale in exactly the cyclic service it was chosen for.

What we specify and check

  • PMI reading aluminium against the 1.0–1.7 % window
  • Chromium verified against the 21.0–25.0 % window
  • Certificate matched to the delivered heat

We commission an accredited independent laboratory to test the heat before the material leaves China. You will receive that report unedited, whether it passes or not.
